Prop locks ? - I suppose so.

Special way to secure boat while out of town? - Take any electronics or fishing equipment off and store it somewhere else. Put a cover on the boat, and park it in the most secure, well lighted spot you can find. If it's on a trailer, chain the wheels or even take them off and block the trailer. Park another vehicle in front of the trailer.

Do I need to worry? - I depends on local conditions - I would worry about leaving it on the street or in a non-secured parking lot but I see this done all the time. Having insurance will ease your worries.

rwidman summed it all up. It is the local condition and where you park your boat that would indicate how safe the boat will be from being vandalised or stolen.

Do you park your boat in your driveway or on the street or in a boat storage area?

I park mine in the driveway and there are about 3 or 4 other boats in our subdivision along our street that park in their driveway and not have any problem yet. Prop locks will deter a thief, but if they really want it they'll get it. I use a prop lock and a sterndrive lock, there good enough for the boat being in the driveway or parked elsewhere for short periods of time, but if your going to leave the boat unattended, then best to remove prop and any other gear thats easy to remove and store it at home.
