Hello again,

I have a 92 Johnson 60 hp outboard on a skeeter 16' fiberglass model ss90. My tach says it's running at 7200 RPM at full power with 2 people. My prop pitch is 17. I was wondering if I should go up to a 19 pitch? I'm not sure of the accuracy of the tach, but when I start the motor it says it's idling at 2500 RPM, I know this not to be true. I know I should replace the tach (the adjustment screw is right) but I'm not sure how and I was quoted 2 months wait time at the ONLY shop in 150 miles of my house. The motor does not sound like it's over revving but I would like to be sure.

Thanks

Re: Prop and Tach help

Try other switch positions on the tach. I'll bet you find one that seems reasonable at idle. Somewhere between 650 and 850. I'm thinking that 17 is right at home.
