prop blow out

I have a 1982 70 hp johnson on a 15 ft edson boat, the steering cable was
just replaced, I noticed when I got the boat back from the shop that the motor
was one hole higher on the transom than before. I asked the shop and they
said he lined it up with the bottom of the boat. Now I noticed that when
pulling tubes the prop blows out on turns, will dropping the motor to the same place fix this problem?

Thanks

Re: prop blow out

Sure. I assume that the motor had to come off to swap cables. That's common. He thought he was doing you a favor by doing an easy performance upgrade. You might get a bit better top speed, but at the cost of a little less towing bite. If you have power trim, you can also prevent blow-out by simply trimming down a bit further when making hard turns.

In general, the antiventilation plate even with the hull for average use, down a hole for more bite for towing and rough water use, up a hole for speed.
