Id like to change the prop on my 1977 V4 85, the original is a bit ratty now, Id like to change pitch to try and extract a little more performance, my boat is 17 foot long and is fibreglass, any ideas on pitch for a replacement?

Most important thing to know is what the full throttle RPM is now. Without knowing that, it is impossible to make a good choice, other than spending a pile of $$ on trial and error. Remember, increasing pitch will decrease RPM, reducing pitch will increase RPM, without a real big change in top speed (assuming same type of prop). Other factors such as blade style, cupping, and yes condition, will do more to increase performance.

Ok so your saying wait till it sin the water and run it at full throttle and note RPM? water is a little way off for us at the moment, maybe next season, though we do use our boats in winter here in OZ, I have a fair bit of fit out work to do before we can venture down to the water
