I moved my Evinrude 35 HP outboard (E35ECTS) to a new hull. It is equipped with a 10 x 13 SST propeller. At wide open, it is making 5000 RPMs. The midrange is 5500 RPMs. OMC offers a 10-1/2 x 11 SST propeller. Is this propeller a good idea or should I sit tight with my 10 x 13?

Re: Prop Change

Is the engine mounted to its optimal height on transom ?If so ,the 11" would probably be a good choice.

I like to have my cavitation plate to site about 1/4" above the bottom of the hull. Get your correct motor height first and then take a look at the prop.

Generally speaking the more diameter you have the higher you can mount the motor. The SST's have pretty good bite. If yours is still in good shape then try raising the motor a tad. That should get you a few more r's and improve the holeshot as well as top end.

We always work with the set up first and change props to gain rpm only as a last resort.
