Hi all

I have just purchased a 2005 Sea Ray 200 Sport as a general cruiser and wake boarding/ski boat. It has a 260hp 5.0 MPI Mercruiser, 1.62 Alpha 1, and a 19" Mercury Vengeance SS prop.
I am after guidance on what prop to change to for wake boarding as i found it a little slow out of the hole.

I will normally have at least 4-5 adults in the boat and maybe a 600lb fat sac in the ski locker, as well as other general gear.

There are a few websites that recommend a 19" 4 blade (Solas) but i am after advice from you good folk for some real life feedback.

Thanks in advance.

We need the present wot rpm and speed.
A 4 blade should help you but the pitch would depend on your present performance lightly loaded.

Hi mate

Thanks for the fast reply.

The WOT RPM is 4900 @ 48 mph

My preference is a good all round prop but if i have to change the prop each time to suit wake boarding I will. e.g a 17" 4 blade (or Mercury High Five?) for wake boarding and the 19' Vengeance for cruising.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks
Evan

Your setup seems to be working right.
Speaking very basically I would suggest a Revolution 4 SS 4 blade.
in a 18" pitch. This may serve for overall performance with a slight reduction in top speed.
Its difficult to have good hole shot and wake boarding and top end.
The 4 blade will have good hole shot, stay on plane with reduced throttle and less fiddling, should be smoother and handle better at speed and at the dock.

Hi and thanks for your posts.
I have looked at purchasing the revolution 4 but it only comes in a 17 or 19 inch pitch?
As I often have at least 4 people in the boat whilst wake boarding, would the 17 be a better option?

Also, what about a Solas instead of the Mercury?
Thanks
Evan

The baypro 2 series are very good performers in I/O's..very good As is Solas. It will act like your merc prop in terms or rpm give you more of a hole shot lower planing speeds and i doubt much speed loss if any
