I have a 28' aft cabin with dual 350s (around 270 HP) and Alpha one drives, not counter-rotating. The boat spec weight is 7200 dry. I currently have four-blade aluminum props, but I recently repowered and need to go with a higher pitch. I like how the four-blades handle, so I will probably stick with fours unless there's a good reason not to.

The choices I've seen so far are another 4-blade aluminum for about $135 or an Apollo stainless steel 4-blade for about $275. Not a huge difference but considerable. There are also other SS props for more money.

I'd like to hear from others who have actually switched to a SS prop on a heaver cruiser and have comparisons and recommendations.

I have no real experience with this weight boat but I feel that SS props are in your best interest...

I actually had better performance from an aluminum prop with less pitch than my SS at hole shot and lower rpm's. If you are in for cruising and not a wild WOT ride, you might stay with your alum's. The prop was Hustler and I forget who was the mfgr. They make I/O props too. Check iboats.

With the weight you are faced with, I believe I would be looking at SS props. What prop model and pitch are you running now?
How much HP gain are you talking about?
