Hello, i have a
1987 16 ft bayliner capri with a 85 hp force
i curently have a 17 pitch prop on its banged up needs replacing.
i believe my motor is to run 5200 to 5600 rpm range from reading forum.
i plan to have 3 people max in boat say max 600 pounds but mostly me 200 and 90 lb nephew.

eventually maybe pull a knee board.

the force factory specs calls for 19 inch prop.
prop guy tells me go with a mercury 17 pitch prop it will make the boat plan quicker.
i do not have power trim any advice or insight pros or cons with prop would be appreciated my goal is to make the boat safest to plane and smooth. to drive the boat is for cruising and fishing mostly
thank you for any help.

Re: prop concern

Test it with the 17 get us the max rpm and speed lightly loaded.
If no tach; a Tinytach is about $40 and easy to install.A gps for speed or have a friend clock with his boat.

Re: prop concern

In some threads you say you have an '87, in others, an '88. Which is it? The last two digits of the HIN are the model year.

If it's an '88, it's a 1700 Capri Cuddy, and it came with a 13 x 17 prop. The Force manual doesn't know what the boat manufacturer specified; you would get a 13 x 19 if you had bought the motor separately.
