Prop diameter

I just bought a new prop for my '86 115 merc. Had a 19 pitch aluminum prop on it. I bought 13 pitch to pull out water skiers but the diameter is 14" and hits the trim tab anode. According to (cringe) Overton's where I bought it, it should fit. Are they wrong, are there different size tabs or am I going to just have to get a different prop? (background- couldn't pull out a water skier on combos with the 19 pitch!)

Re: Prop diameter

Welcome!!

Merc has some different options on the tab. Its very common to have to change the tab for props with more rake. No big deal. Overtons should mention that in the catalog. And I'm pretty sure they offer the other tabs too.

Hey richki, you have the same post under Merc Troubles. You should not post the same question in multiple areas. Gets too confusing.

Sorry about the duplicate. Thought I could move this post then delete it but haven't been able to.

No problem. Have you located the other tab yet?

Re: Prop diameter

You could always trim the anode so that the prop doesn't hit it. It's not going to harm anything by trimming it.
