Current setup: 1996 Force 50hp, 15' bowrider fiberglass boat (think about 950lbs dry). Existing prop number: 48 816704 A40 13P. This motor, from what I can gather, should top out at 5200-5300 rpm. With my current prop I can get 5800rpm which makes me believe the wrong prop is installed. Can someone recommend a more suitable prop? Will the correct prop increase my speed (only get 29mph now WOT). Can't afford to start experimenting (but I know you guessed this by the motor I'm running), so looking for a real knowledgable person to make a good educated guess, and thats what I will have to go with. Thanks.

I think a 15P Stainless will put you were you want to be. Or a 17P Aluminum as long as you stay with the same diamiter. You are going to lose some hole shot though. You probably have a great one now. Keep this prop for pulling skiers or tubes. Or stumps!! :D

yes i agree a 15 or even a 17 would be better, more top end speed too.

You are only going to increase your speed about 1 mph for every 1" of pitch you rise, if that's what you are looking for. I would go with the 15.......and if you are like me......I can't afford stainless.....so go with the aluminum....it's cheaper to replace if you should nick it on a stump!

MarkHP, I suspect the prop pitch. Could be error with tach, but I don't think so. If it was way off I would suspect incorrect setup on tach, number of poles or whatever. But I had also verified same. Speed measured with GPS. General concensus seems to be a 15P, so I guess that's what I will be looking for. Also, not only am I not rich, but currently on strike, so no stainless for me! This also cuts back on my trips. Sucks. Thanks to all for answering.
