Which prop should I get for my 18x60 flat boat center console. Have a 115 Yamaha 2 stroke on a 6 inch jack plate. Boat is very light. Looking for a good all around prop. What pitch and how many blades.

Re: Prop for 115 yamaha 2 stroke

I have no gauges in my boat so can't get rpm and speed. Current prop is stainless steel pitch unknown diameter unknown(no stamps anywhere on prop). Motor was rigged on a 19 foot polar deep vee center console and proped to that boat. My boat is a 18x60 center console all welded flat boat with a 10* vee in it. Motor is a 25 inch shaft on a 20 inch transom with a jack plate to compensate. Boat is very light. Haven't run the boat yet with the 115. It's at the shop having the new console built and some welding done to it.

Prop size usually appears near the base of the blades or under the prop nut.If un marked a prop shop can measure it for you.
A gps can get your speed, something like a Tinytach for your rpm. They have a web site.Reasonable price easy install and can be hand held or permantent.will work on almost any motor with a spark. Rpm is very important for the best performance and the health of your motor. "Very light" I have a 18ft Crestliner utility I would consider "very light" at 375lbs dry weight.I have a feeling your boat is close to twice the weight with the console setup. probably "very light"for a 115.
My brief look at 115 powered boats comepletely un related to your style but all about 1200 to 1600 dry weight similar style.
prop sizes ranged from 23" al prop 5550 @ 49 mph,pro series 19 5500 @ 47,19" @ 46 (1200lb boat) and 21" @ 5450 49.
I think you can see that trying to pick a prop for any boat without real details is nearly impossible.
Sometimes you can luck out with someone with the exact same boat but very rarely.

You give us all sorts of information that doesn't help us. You need a tach -- period. The only other suggestion is to go to the Yamaha web site and look at the PERFORMANCE BULLETINS. Pick your engine, pick the boat and look at the performance data. The prop used for that test is shown with the yamaha part number. If your boat is not listed, pick one that is as close as possible to yours. Not knowing what your WOT rpm is with what you consider an average load is, for all you know you may already have the best prop.
