I can't figure out how to read the numbers on my prop. On one side it has H4583 stamped in and on the other side it has H5333 stamped. In a third location it has the letter "R" stamped. Can anyone help me figure out what prop this is ? I need to shop for a new one since I found some rocks in the water over the weekend :(

The R is probably for right hand rotation....turns CW looking from the rear. Dual installations usually use counter rotating props so this info would be useful.

On numbers, you might try Michigan Wheel www and go to search and see what happens. Or just punch the numbers into a Google or Yahoo search engine and see what happens. Those are mfgr ID numbers. Usually diameter and pitch numbers would be like 10x12 for dia and pitch in inches.

Don't know what prop you should have.

Did you look under the prop nut for numbers?
A prop shop can measure it for you.
If you tell us about the boat and get us your present rpm and gps speed we may be able to ball park the size.

I haven't taken it off yet, but I will check under the nut. My boat is a 21' SunTracker party barge with a Johnson 60HP outboard. Not sure about the RPMs yet because the tach is not reading corectly. It shows around 4K at times when I'm not reving that high and not moving fast at all, maybe half throttle. Other times it is reading 2K and the motor is off. I haven't been able to identify the markings stamped on it yet. Every web site I've tried doesn't recognize them.

My guess would be about a 13" pitch. You'll probably find the numbers under the nut.
On the tach be sure all connections are clean and tight,
Operate the selector switch on the back a few times to clean the contacts.
