Hello experts!
I have a 2007 Crownline 18 BR with 2006 Mercruiser 3.0 and Alpha One.
The prop has some cracks and bends and it is time to replace.

The boat is used for water sports and I would like to obtain the fast start, but also to get better top speed (It does 35 knots with me alone in the boat and 1/2 tank of gas)

Can anyone help me out what prop to use? Steel/alu etc...

Fresh water, 300 meters above sea level

cant have both. you can either have a lower pitch prop which will help you out of the hole and help with watersports or you can have a higher pitched prop for top end, however the low end suffers

I kept 2 props on the boat for that reason when I had a 3.0. I used a 19 pitch for long distance cruises, I used a 17 pitch for general cruising and running to fishing spots and I used a 15 pitch for water sports and if I needed to troll

Also, there are stickies at the top of each forum. read them. this one is on the prop forum and is titled "Read First"

its the questions we need answered to help you.

what prop is on there now?

what Scott said... cant have both.... I run a 15p 4 blade on my 20ft cuddy with a 3.0.. deep V.. heavy.... but.... that prop shoves the old girl up on top of the water fast... top speed not important to me.... frankly you will only lose a few mph by going with 4 blade.. its provides best performance for me... what are you now running, what's your speed and WOT rmps reading..... need that before any useful suggestions offered...

A few guys in the marina with similar bayliner, sea rays and maxum 17-18 footers with 3.0s have decent results with 19-21" hi fives. Apparently run just as fast, if not faster than standard black max and have vastly improved hole shots for water sports.
Never going to be a rocket ship, but they tell me they manage 43-45mph well trimmed and light.
