Just put a 300 E-tec on my 1997 Proline 251 walk.Still in break-in period. Getting 36 MPH @5400 RPM from a 4 blade prop. Fuel economy is uncertain yet (only 3 hours on engine) but maybe around 1.2-1.4mpg. Looking to maximize fuel economy vs. speed. Any thoughts?

Re: Prop for 300 E-tec

At this point you probably shouldn't be too concerned about a prop. The computer will be holding the motor back to a small degree. Once it gets about 10 hours above a certain rpm it'll allow the motor some more rpm. At 20 hours it seems to gain a little more too. If you prop it out now it will seem the prop has lost some bite when in reality the motor has gained a little rpm.

With that motor you want to stay close to the recommended top rpm without exceeding it. This isn't designed like the old 3 liter that likes a lot of rpm.
