Hello, it turns out getting props for these motors is getting to be a problem. I have a 13 1/8" x 15" prop on my motor now and I'm only getting 4200 WOT. The next pitch lower made for these motors is a 14" x 13" pitch. However they are no longer made. Does anyone out there have a used or NOS prop available? My motor is a single exhaust model. Thank you

What kind of boat (Model, length, hull type) are you pushing? Unless you're pushing a barge or something with a displacement hull, you should be able to turn more that 4200 RPM's with a 15 pitch prop.

The motor was on a 20' Renken cuddy that I had. The hull had rotted floors etc so I junked it. Since the 125 had a fresh power head I pulled it off the Renken and put it on a 20' Aquasport 200XF WAC. I have seen these motors on 21' Bayliner Trophy walk arounds so I know it should push it with no problems.

I did have a problem where I was only getting 2100 WOT and it was running rough. After checking compression, ignition, fuel system and so on I found a stuck needle in the carb and solved that problem. Unless the ethanol fuel is costing me power.

Prop pitch is not your problem. One of your cylinders is not operating and that is why you are getting the low rpm.

Have the plugs been cleaned lately? Have you done a decarb treatment? If you haven't do so and report the results.

If you have, pull each plug wire off in turn at idle and find out which one doesn't affect the engine.

For the boat you have the engine on , the smallest prop you should have is a 17 pitch unless you put eight fat people on it.

All cylinders are firing just fine. All new plugs and just tested the whole ignition system and I'm getting very strong spark on each one. I could decarb but I doubt it will help much.

Ok, you checked the spark but ignition is only one part of the equation. You need fuel and air also, and at the right time, or you don't produce power.

Earlier Force engines are pretty basic so troubleshooting them is also basic.

If you don't pull wires off when it is running, you don't know if the fuel, air and spark, that you checked separately are working properly in the right order.

Assuming that your tach is correct and that you do indeed have a 15 pitch prop, you are not getting full power out of your engine. In my experience, an rpm drop of that degree indicates that one cylinder is not producing power.
