Was out yesterday with the sundowner, 5.8 cobra, 6 adults & a loaded cooler. Was cruising at about 3500 rpm's and felt some slipping, like it was coming out of gear. Revs went up, boat slowed down. I slowed it down, then got right back up on plane no problem. Then it would happen again. And again. On the way home only had 3 adults and ran it at about 2800-3000 tops (dark out). Didn't do it once. From the posts I read it sounds like the prop, ay? No foul odors, no banging (except for me on the dash). Just the revs shooting up.

Re: prop going?

I used the trim tabs for the first time yesterday. Too many people on the starboard side. I wonder if this was a ventilation problem??? Only one way to find out. I'm off to the river!!

Marked the prop. Ran it at WOT, got up to 4000-4100 with 4 blade stainless prop. Did not use the trim tabs. No more "slipping". Marks on prop still match up. Ran at about 175. Only problem was that I had to fill the 50 galon tank at $3.65 a gallon.

Re: prop going?

Actually that was better than I expected. Here on land, around the corner from my house, its $3.39. I thought it would be a lot more on the water. <br />It didn't help that my buddy kept giving me a play by play on the pump, "wow, 10 gallons, $36, wow, $54 for 15 gallons, wow, $120! for 32 gallons of gas!" I was ready to turn the hose at him, lol.

Re: prop going?

Prop wasn't slipping. Ventilation problem. But to answer the question, no, it is a 4 blade stainless, which I'll probably sell for gas money!
