Hi! Just got the Hub off the prop shaft on my 1973 merc.7.5 hp. Behind the hub and butting up to the Bearing Carrier is what mercury calls a propeller guide or collar. Was this suppose to come off with the prop and do I need to replace it? I need to replace the Bearing Carrier seal, what is best way to take off propeller guide? Thanks for Your Help!!!

Re: prop guide

I believe you mean the thrust washer....It might take a small puller to bust it free, or protect the outer edges of the gearcase and use 3 screwdrivers...

Re: prop guide

Thanks Kenny that did the trick!!! Got every thing cleaned up and waiting for my prop to be rehubed. I would like to replace the front seal and roller bearing in the bearing carrier can this be done without pulling the prop shaft? Thanks again!!! Mike
