I have a 1998 Force 90 hp outboard
Long and short of it is I have a prop but none of the guts that go inside of it. I had the local store order me the hub kit and I put it together last night. This hub is different from the one on my spare prop.
My spare has an all metal hub and the back side of the prop has a small bushing that prevent wear on the motor. This bushing is not metal but it is not plastic, I am not really sure what it is made of. This bushing is inside the prop and does not extrude past the prop.
The new kit has a different system where there is a metal hub that goes in a plastic sleeve. This plastic sleeve extends beyond the back of the prop and prevents the prop from fitting down on the shaft as far as the other prop.
I can still get the nut on and tighten it down but this new hub system makes the prop extend 1/2 inch further out on the shaft.
My question
Should I be using this new hub or is it completly the wrong part? Currently I guessing that it is simply a function of a different way to skin a cat.
Thanks
Gazelle
