I realize now that should have placed this post here instead of the OMC board.

I had heard that approx 200 rpm's = inch of pitch, is this correct?

I have a 20' C/C Proline, 1972 (pretty heavy) and a 1983 200 hp Johnson. I am way under RPM's, around 4100, think I should be around 5000-5200.

I am thinking a 21 Pitch, do you guys agree?

Re: Prop help

You don't mention what prop you are currently running.

Approximate - add and inch (pitch), lose 200 RPM @ WOT (subtract an inch, gain 200 @ WOT).

Heres a couple of sites you might like:

prop basics

prop basics

Aldo

Re: Prop help

Thanks a million mate! I am not sure what size I am running now. Using that site I guess I could measure it myself right? Thanks again.

Very hard to do, good luck.

If you don't determine what you currently have its impossible to know if you need less or more pitch. Should be stamped on the prop (ie: 15 x 19), if not, maybe a prop shop can help. They have the machine to measure pitch.

Aldo
