Prop Hits the Trim Anode

I have a 1986 mercruiser 3.0 135hp Alpha 1 drive and recently purchased a new stilletto stainless prop. The diameter and pitch are the same as the original aluminum prop. The new prop is just a little longer and it hits the trim anode. Does any one know where to get an extended trim anode or have a fix for this problem.

Thanks

Hopefully you realized this before you started the engine....I would just replace it with a tabless anode. Seems to be the easiest way to deal with it.

A tabless may create torque steer problems. If it just barely hits maybe you could grind a little off the anode for clearance..

I have thought about grinding this anode but im not sure how much the prop will flex under pressure so therefor how much extra do I really need to grind off. I guesse if it does hit it would just break the anode.

If the Prop it's tha Trim Tab it might damage the prop and I don't think you would want that. I just looked and mine has 1/2 inch clearance. My Boat is only about 20 ft from me.

Grind the anode down to fit. Next time buy the Merc Hi Performance trim tab anode, it's thinner and made for applications that won't clear an regular anode.

Here's a pic on mine...
