is there any special procedure to pressing in a new prop hub??? I have axcess to a 50 ton press.

We'll assume you have the old style rubber cushion hub, not the newer Flo Torq type hub system. They use a cone type deal to get the hub started and use some sort of lube. I assume the liquid lube dissapates once the hub is seated. Other than that it's just knowing when it's in the right place. Naturally cleaning the prop out once the old hub is out is critical too.

Six ton is more than sufficient. With my smaller 10 inch props, it is possible to press the hub in too far. SO: depending on your prop, measure the hub to see if the rubber goes all the way down and seats against a land or if it is more like a donut and you only press it in partway. Check against your spare prop or borrow one to check against.

I don't bother with the cone but I do lubricate with black silicone RTV. It's a little messy but it lubricates nicely and sets up eventually. I think it gives me a little "edge" against future wear and slippage.
