prop interchange?

hi guys - do you know if the alpha one props are interchangeable with the late 80s 80/90hp props? they look pretty much the same...

Nope,.... The I4 outboards run 'bout an inch smaller diameter, 'n the barrel of the prop is 'bout a 1/2" smaller diameter,....

what about the tower of power i6's have a few of these and look same size

Ayuh,.... Those motors are the mid-sized gear case, 'bout 4" diameter,....

The I/Os, 'n Large gear case outboards run a 4, 3/4" gear case,....

Bolt on the mid-sized gear case prop, 'n it blows out, 'cause of the gap, 'tween the gear case, 'n prop housin',....

Merc Inline 4/6 props have a 4-1/4" hub. Alpha 1 and Merc V6 outboards have a 4-3/4" hub. You might be able to get an adaptor to put the smaller hub prop on the larger gearcase, but not the other way around.
