I'm looking at buying this V-drive and I noticed that the nut is not snugged up to the prop (see pic). I looked at a manual and noticed that there is a retaining pin that holds the prop and and I'm assuming that is why the prop has not fallen off (the dealership said they had the boat on the water last weekend). I also pulled on it pretty hard and it did not budge. I'm not sure if the bolt will tighten up since it is at a dealership and not at my house. The thread on the shaft looked ok but I could not hand tighten it. I think I know the answer but here is the question anyway, IS THE THE BOLT NOT BEING TIGHT A HUGH DEAL, THAT WILL CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS?

Re: Prop Issues ?????

To the best of my knowledge those props go on a taper and there is a keyway in the prop and shaft nut is tightened up good.Don't know the torque. Prop is tight enough to sometimes require a puller to get it off.Yes the prop could come loose.
If the nut is loose You may want to check the set screws on shaft flanges at the V drive and transmission.
