Prop Number ID?

have 1985 MerCruiser 140 w/Alpha 1 Stern Drive
numbers on current prop: 7A201619 and DIANJOU
I'm guessing 16" dia prop, 19" pitch?

it's aluminum, 3-blade, and has a few little bites out the blade edges... thinking about a replacement, but having hard time finding a replacement prop with these specs. Am I reading it wrong?

Acceleration good and top rpm on spec, (17' runabout) so I'd like to replace with same prop.
Thanks.

Re: Prop Number ID?

Okay, figured this out... I think
There's a space before the last two numbers (7A2016 19) so I'm going with 19" pitch. The measurement from outer blade edge to center of hub is approx 7" so I'm going with 14" diameter. Which makes more sense as this is a common wheel for MerCruiser of my era.

Forum guy - you can delete this thread is you like. I tried to, but edit wouldn't let me.

The more or less "standard" size for a 19 pitch prop would be 14-1/2 X 19.

RPM spec would be 4200-4600 for your 1985 140.

Now I need to find out if its a removable hub or not... the learning never stops.

A cost effective (and good performing) prop would be the Solas Rubex 14.5 X 19.

It comes with all the hardware needed as part of the Rubex hub kit.

Thanks for the recommendation. I read some of the comments. While most like it, some expressed concern re: rubber hub. Are you using this prop?

I use them on my 23 ft deck boat. They run smoother than the Merc prop that came on it.

Not sure why anyone would express concern about a rubber hub. It would seem that they should absorb shock better than a hard delrin hub.

Re: Prop Number ID?

Adding a half inch to the diameter could put the blades close to the cavitation plate. Maybe not, but it seems close now at 14" ... is there a rule for separation?

The Alpha stern drive can handle up to 16" diameter props.

The 14.5 dia won't even be close.
