Prop Numbers and Applications....Could use some help.

I just located a like new used SST prop for my 1979 OMC 55Hp motor. However, the seller says it fits 1987 and up OMC 48spl models...Small gearcase, which is what I need.<br /><br />When I compare OEM numbers for props that fit my year '79 motor and numbers for the newer 48spl, all the prop numbers for the OEM aluminum props are the exact same for both of these motors...but...all the numbers for the stainless steel (SST's) props are different.<br /><br />Seems to me that if the EXACT same aluminum prop will fit either of these motors, so would same stainless steel prop...?<br /><br />I be confused! <br /><br />Any one with experience at this?<br /><br />Thanks!

If the P/N for aluminum is the same for both, and the SST fits one of them, it will fit the other...<br />1987 thru 1996 48HP uses the SAME props as the 2 cylinder 1976 thru 1979 55HP.....Stainless and aluminum.
