prop nut how tight?

Ever since i had to remove the prop and replace I am getting water in the LU even running on the hose .Is there a torgue setting for this , I didn't really tighten it much because i could swore i read on here to just snug it up?<br />any ideas?<br /><br />84 90hp rude<br /><br />mark

procraftmark <br />You are correct about snugging it up to tighten it, but that doesn't have anything to do with water in the lower unit. Either your Drain/Fill screws need new seals or one of the other seals on the lower unit are shot. Try checking and replacing the screw seals first and see if it still gets water in the lower unit. If that doesn't work, you will need to test further by having it Pressure/Vacuum tested to determine which seal is leaking.

I think if this is happening while on the hose as you said, then it is more likely to be the shiftrod seal or the driveshaft seal, where they enter the lower unit from the top.
