I have a 1989 205 sundowner that came with a 5.0 cobra and a S.S. prop 14 1/4 x 22. The motor was damaged so I replaced it with a new 300 hp carb 5.7. 4bl 670 holly (new)The motor came with a cobra drive marked 5.0 and a prop marked 15 x 7 HH 517 13. I put the boat in the water and it took a long long time to plane. The rpms at wot were 4300 and a top speed of 35 mph. The motor runs fine with no issues. I found the Mfg info on the motor and the wot was 4800-5200. What do I need to do? Should I try the 14 1/4 x 22? or would this not work. Thanks

Re: prop or other issues

Well...
You are not getting WOT with that prop so....
I would try the prop you have & see what results you get....
If unsatisfactory, I would post a question in the prop forum & see what feedback you get there....
The important thing is that you get to the manufacturer's specs for WOT, anything less & you can cause premature engine failure from 'lugging'.......JK
