I have a '74 inline 6 mercury 150hp outboard attached to a 16' CV-16. I need a new prop, as a peice of wood took a chunk out of my old one.
The prop I have now is 19 pitch, and I know that's too small because at WOT I can get about 6500 RPMs. If I get a new prop that is 20 or 21 pitch...that should be perfect. What I'm wondering about is pulling skiers and having the boat completely loaded down. At that point, with a 20 or 21 pitch prop, wouldn't WOT be under 5k RPMs? Is that really bad?
