Hi, this is my first time on this forum and my first post. Am I correct that higher the pitch the lower the rpm and lower pitch results in higher rpm? Thank you for info.

Yes, think of it as big pitch are 4x4 tires take a big bite, but slow the engine. Smaller tires spin faster and easier.

You need to size your pitch for the upper end of your engine's recommended operating RPM when at full throttle, trimmed out best it will do (if you have power trim and tilt) with your regular load....the one you run most of the time. This will allow you room to stay within the recommended rpm band when heavily loaded, and you can "control yourself" (grin) when running with a light load to keep the rpms under control.

Obviously between idle and full throttle (WOT) you will be running different speeds and different rpms but that's not where the "gear ratio" is setup.
