Used to go 53 mph (gps) at 5500 rpm with 2 adult, 20/30 gals of gas with 14 x 19p alum prop. Installed 9.9 honda kicker, fill up 50 gals of gas, 3 adults, will only go 45 mph (gps)at 5500 rpm. With the extra weight, I expected to slow down. I am thinking of installing a SS14 X 25 or 23 pitch to gain speed. What do you think/suggest/and why? I have a 20' aluminum with '03 150 yamaha. Thank you for your opinion.

Re: prop pitch change

That might be a bit much. I don't know what the recommended RPMs are for your motor, but every inch of pitch you add takes away about 200 RPMs. That would bring you down to 4700...which I think is too low. You would probably be better off with a 21 or 22 pitch.
