We broke the old prop on my 9.9 (Happy River Hunting!) and need to replace it. The Engine was having trouble getting out on plane and i was told upgrading to a 4 blade prop could add to the boats Holeshot...which to me is more important than top end speed.

My question is what pitch do i change over to? The old pitch was 9" and 9 1/4th Diameter.

My Boat Specs are: Sun Dolphin Pro 120
Length 11?3?
Width 60?
Height 22?
Weight 210 lbs.
Capacity 649 lbs.
HP Rating 15*

Yamaha 2000 9.9 RPM range is 4500-5500

Boat has a Tri-Haul Design.

Thanks!

Not knowing your present rpm and speed its difficult to know yopur best pitch.
Based on the rpm I'd guess the motor is a 2 stroke.Your slow hole shot could mean you have a little too much prop now. Does it really seem to buzz along on plane?Does it seem to really bog with an additional person? It would be really good to get your rpm.A tinytach is reasonable and easy to install. You may be able to get your prop repaired and do a test run ewith a tach.
What is your typical load?
