Prop pitch sizing help please

Can I replace my Johnson 50 HP Model J50TELCCS Prop current factory orig. size
11 3/4 X 17 with a 12 1/4 X 15.

What will happen. ? will I damage engine//

As a rule as pitch goes down diameter goes up.Pitch is the key number diameter usually just follows the design.
Without knowing your present performance figures no way to know what the 15" will do.
