i have a 9.9 force and was wondering about prop pitch and its relation to top speed.the number on my prop is 9 by 8 and was wondering if this pitch was designed as an all purpose prop .i am looking to get a few more mph out of my little 12 foot aluminum and wanted to know if a diffrent pitch would give me more top end speed? what pitch would i be best off with for top end speed?

Re: prop question

That depends on what the current one you are using sets your engines WOT RPM at.A prop of steeper pitch will(in theory)allow your boat to go faster. That is if it doesn't overload your engines capability of achieving its designed WOT RPMs.In your case a 12 ft boat is a fairly small rig and perhaps you could experiment with the optional 9 x 9 prop on your boat for a bit more top end.
