Prop Question?

Hey guys, how are all of you,

I have a question or two about props. I own a Force 85. I just bought the boat trailer and two motors for $ 1750.00 Not bad. I have tested both motors, and the both run great. One needs an impellor for pump but it runs fine. My question is: I took out the boat to a large lake and ran it to full throttle. It cruised at about 30 miles an hour. Is that fast? I feel I could get more out of motor by putting a better prop on it. I want to be able to pull water skiires as well, but still have a nice fast cruising speed, whwn not pulling someone. Could you give me some recommendations on to what and how Props work, or which you would recommend for what I am after?

Thanks for your answers early.:)

Re: Prop Question?

You need to state the size and type of boat, and what prop you are now using. If you have a tachometer, RPM also need to be stated. For your current prop, if it is stock, the size will be stamped on the outside of the hub and will be two numbers like 13X19. if it is aftermarket prop, the size may be stamped in the center of the hub where the prop nut is. The 13 is diameter and the second number is the pitch. This is the theoretical distance the prop moves forward through the water for one revolution of the prop shaft.
