I presently run a 13 3/8x17 omc sst on a 15ft. boston whaler dauntless.local shop has omc 13x19 used in good shape for 165.oo , but doesn't want to let anyone check it out before buying.Motor will turn around 6200 rpm with light load with the 13 3/8 x 17 prop.on a 1995 70 hp evinrude.any feedback is appreciated.

Re: prop question

Howdy, OB.

You are underpropped now. 6200rpm is too fast for OMC triples.

I think your idea of going to a 19" is a good one. That should allow you WOT of around 5500rpm to 5800rpm.

Good luck. :)

Re: prop question

JB is it still ok to use the 17 in. prop for skiing or full occupant load since changing props is realtively easy?

Re: prop question

JB is right your motor will be happier and last longer.
Just be aware your hole shot will be slower
getting a skier up will take a little longer.
Top end should be faster.

Re: prop question

Why not use the 17 for skiing or tubing or a spare? Ber careful buying a used prop. If its been reworked it may (or may not) do strange things. I can see him wanting you to pay for it but he should offer you a "money back" deal if, after a tryout, it does not work properly on your rig. Of course that means you return it in the same condition you took it in.

Good luck!
