Hello,

I have a question concerning a prop. I currently own a 1989 Evinrude SPL V-4 88 horsepower model# E88MSLCER. This motor is on a 1989 Chapparrel 162XL 15.5 footer ski boat. I currently have an aluminum prop 12 3/4 X 21 that pushes my boat at 47 MPH with me (195Lbs) my wife(Big sized) and my two younger daughters. But that speedometer is a pitot pickup type that is mounted on the transom of the boat. Anyway, I bought a brand new prop (Genuine Evinrude/Johnson) of of ebay and hasn't arrived yet. It measures 14 X 19. Will this work all right. The reason I got it is to pull skiers, tubers, etc and also needed a spare prop. The boat is small though.

I have an aluminum 14x19 for my 16ft V-hull Cobia with a Johnson 100HP and it works good when on it. My main prop is a stainless 13x19 that turns 200 rpm less and produces 2-4 mph more top end. If that prop is alum. it'll probably be ok, but if it's stainless you might be lugging your engine. Either way, be sure and test run the engine with it and record your top-end RPM. Make sure it's within spec.
