hey all,

i have a 21' baja with a the 5.7L/alpha 1 Its a 1996. I am running a 23 pitch and dont know the diameter(its aluminum). full throttle i am turning about 4400-4600 rpm. I have smart tabs on order right now so things may change, but i am wondering about going to a 4 blade ss or a 3 blade ss. 21 pitch. how much difference am i going to see with the tabs. could i go with a 23 pitch with the tabs? i also dont understand what prop slip is if anyone could enlighten me. thanks

Re: prop questions

You need to make your prop decision after you get the tabs tuned in.
Why did you get the tabs? You seem to be pretty close with your present prop. What do you hope to accomplish?why the prop change? If your thinking of going to ss check out the Turning Point Hustler.Close to ss performance at al prices. To keep it simple Prop slip is just that. Water is a liquid so the prop
doesn progress forward at its design demension there is some slip. All props
experience slip.I believe about 10% is typical.

Re: prop questions

thank you for you interest steelspike. I wanted to get a better hole shot, it takes some time to plane and i want to plane at a lower speed. The trim tabs may help that aspect alot, but i dont know. Have you heard anything about the smart tabs sx. I dont have room for hydraulic tabs like bennet trim tabs. thankyou

Re: prop questions

I installed Smart Tabs SX on my boat (21' Maxum 4.3L Alpha 1)... I thought the worked great!

they were a bit of a pain in the balls to get installed because of my transom configuration, but I love them otherwise.
