I have a 1990 Johnson 150GT. First, I don't care any thing about top end/high speed performance. Is there a prop that will help with fuel economy?

Re: prop questions

If you prop your engine to run full throttle in the upper end of the "normal" operating range, you will mazimize your overall operating fuel economy. No problem to run is slower than WOT. Stanless props are more efficient through the water, so are probably more fuel efficient than a comparable aluminum prop. You will max your fuel economy if you plane the boat, then pull back on the throttle slightly to where the spark is still at full advance, but the carb venturi closes slightly.

Re: prop questions

run up to wot, then back off to about 7/8ths. this is known as cruise, same as what emdsapmgr mentioned. has been a feature on motors for 40 years.

getting the motor properly set up with the hull will help also. optimum height to the keel and proper trim angle.
