So i'd like to pick up a spare prop for my boat, its a 1980 Johnson 140.

How universal are props in general, do i have to stick to 'johnson/evinrude' only, or just match the shaft size? (which would be?)

I just have no idea about props, what do I have to look for.

Re: prop questions

They sure aren't universal. Look for a prop for your year and HP J/E.

Re: prop questions

Your prop size may be on the barrel or under the prop nut.
Diameter X pitch. Diameter follows the design and isn't a primary consideration.
Just look up a prop for your motor. If you read the stickies at the top of the page
and the helps on the prop store page it will help you understand props a little better. any qs please ask.
