Need advise for prop replacement on a 60hp mercury bigfoot 2 stroke. It's mounted on a 20 foot pontoon. Not sure on what pitch will work best. Manual not clear on precise requirements. TIA

Does it have a prop now? What size and pitch? What is your current speed and RPM's at full throttle? With that information, we can help you determine what prop pitch might be better for what you are trying to accomplish. I don't think we can intelligently answer your question without more information. Other than that, I can only suggest that you try to pick up a prop that fits your motor and supply us with the top speed and highest RPMs you can reach with that prop and we can help you out.

Recently purchased the pontoon with bad motor. Re powered with 98 60hp bigfoot that didn't come with prop.

Prop shop time for you. Prop shops sell and repair props. They also can have a loaner plan whereby the purchaser tests a prop and if its not right, they talk over the change necessary, you test the suggested prop and if it works you buy it. 2 caveats to that: Prop will be more expensive than purchased elsewhere (like they earned it......) and when you run a loaner prop you put it on, test it, take the data, immediately take it off, clean it up, put it back in the box and take it back to the store........because they will be expecting it to be in new condition for the next potential customer.

Just need to be aware…that these don’t take the usual 60hp prop size. They have the larger gearcase/prop fitment. Likely for the 75-125hp (approximately) size of prop.
Or at least, they had a larger diameter prop than the usual for sure. The Bigfoot (layer called the command thrust CT) always had a larger gearcase and/or a lower ratio than normal. For low down thrust to shift heavier than normal applications, for the HP. Just in the event you weren’t aware. Speak to a local dealer or look them up for info.
I’d advise speaking to a local dealer and see if you can try out a few prop sizes and pitches. Just given the rather out the norm, circumstances around what you need.

I think I verified that the lower unit is infact a prduction 75 through125 HP lower unit which runs a 13+" diameter, 15 tooth (as I recall) prop of varying pitches. Would think that the prop for a big foot would be 10 to 15 pitch area depending on load to be pushed.

I think Q'Buoy runs a 115 HP with that lower unit and if he will tell you what he is running in on, it may help you to down scale the pitch to something that works for you.

Hi Texas. You’re right, I do run a 115 CT, but it’s fairly different to this older 60 Bigfoot set up. Mine runs the larger again gearcase from the 150hp and up type engines. Takes the same props as them and the likes of the alpha one mercruiser etc etc.
I’ve only been familiar with one of these smaller 60 bigfoots before, on a friends 16ft wee cuddy cruiser thing. Was something obscure like a 14x13” black max prop I’m sure.
To the original poster fella…have a look up at black max 14x13 or better still. Bigfoot propeller or similar search criteria. These things run fairly unique props from the usual. All depends on the boat you have. Did you mention what the boat was previously? Might take a stab in the dark for a starter for you. But strongly urge you to have a talk with a local merc guy that will allow you to try before you buy. Really need to get the prop right on these things…or any boat really.

Its on a 20ft pontoon. Wish I new what prop they were running. I have exhausted google search trying to find a answer. Gives me the option for the black max and vengence but nothing as far as diameter or pitch.
Ill see if there's a local dealer or something around.

Have a look at what I wrote earlier. There are specifically described black max props suitable for her. Most common is the 14x13” version, perhaps.
You’ll need something along those lines or close really. You’re asking a fair bit of that wee engine.
