I have a Lund SSV 16 with an E-TEC 40 tiller. I currently have the basic BRP Aluminum 13.25 x 17 prop. Lightly loaded the boat will run 35.5 (GPS) MPH @ 5450 RPM. This is trimmed out to the point it begins to porpoise pretty bad. The motor is rated for maximum RPM range of 5000 ? 6000. The peak HP is at 5500.
This is a relatively light weight open boat. It is somewhat stern heavy though. The motor weighs 240 and I weigh 230. I have added 2 removable floor sections and a couple seats. It has a battery and 6 gal tank both installed under the rear seat. Otherwise it is just an empty boat. It has a tendency to porpoise when it is trimmed out. I can add only modest amounts of trim before it begins to porpoise.
Overall, I am happy with the performance. The holeshot is already very strong and the boat has excellent midrange. I have several areas that I would like to try to address with a new prop.
1) Good balanced overall performance
2) Reduce tendency to porpoise
3) Slightly increase RPM so that it is not running too slow with a load.
4) Another MPH or two would always be nice.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
