Dinged up the prop pretty bad last time out. Gonna get it rebuilt but need some advice. Right now I get 4800 rpm at WOT and 32 Mph GPS . I would like to get a few more mph if possible. Are the rpms right for a 85 Force. If not when I get the prop rebuilt I understand they can change the pitch. Open to all recommendations......

rpm about where they should be for that motor, could go 200 higher, but you are where you need to be.
More mph unlikely no matter what you do.

The RPM range for that motor is 4500-5500, speed will be determined by how heavy the boat & passangers are and what gear you have on board, I had a Bayliner 1600 Capri, with that size motor, and it had a 17" pitch prop, the max Rpm was 5200, with a top speed of around 34-35 mph, if you lower the pitch ( lets say 15" pitch ), you will get better acceleration, which would be good for pulling skiers from a deep water start, but you'll have to watch the RPM, as you might exceed the 5500 redline for that motor, any good prop shop can set-up the prop to with-in a couple hundred RPM's

I switched mine to the vortex hub and props, makes switching props easy. The hub kit runs about 30-35 and the props are 62-68 each. At least if you ding up the prop, you can replace it at about half the cost of the pressed on hub types.

I get 32 to 35 mph with my 87 force 85hp and I think it is doing great. To me and according to the book that is what it should be doing. Why does everyone want to get more out of them? If it works it is not broken, if it is broken replace the part and keep having fun.

Re: Prop Repair 85 Force

I used port city props in Ark to repair my prop.
They did a great job. Pitched it from 19 to 20 for me too. www.portcityprops.com
I have an aluminum prop.
I have a 1984 Bayliner 1510 fish and ski, 85 HP. I get 40 mph, don't know rpm. When it was a 19 pitch I would get about 38 mph.

Hope it is not too late to help you.
