prop repair

My stainless prop has a few rock dings and I'd like to either repair it myself and/or send it in to have it reworked.

Is cleaning it up fairly easy or is it best left to the pros?

I had the LU rebuilt last fall because the shop said I had a bent prop shaft, but they didn't seem to think the prop was damaged. Not sure if I hit something or the previous owner. In any case, there are some nicks and chips that I'd like to get out, I'd also like to know that none of the blades are out of whack.

Any idea on turn around time if sent in and cost involved?

I'm also thinking of getting a 4 blade for waterskiing and such as I am thinking I'd like a little better hole shot. How do I figure out what to get?

Re: prop repair

prop repair is best left to the pro's - if you get it out of balance it will shake the boat pretty bad. If you go 4-blade drop pitch by 1" if the new prop is cupped drop another inch of pitch. Cupping will get you an even better hole shot. I have a 4-blade michigan wheel vortex 15"x 16 pitch that is cupped. PM me if you are interested.
