Im wanting to try a few different pitches to see if I can improve the performance some. On newer motors I know I can switch the props but is there anything specific about my old 57 javelin that I need to look for? Thanks

Ill be prop testing my Javelin soon as well. What prop are you currently running and how is it performing?

Tell us about the boat and how the motor performs.Prop size should be near the base of the blades. standard prop in 57 was 103/8 X 13 1/4. Catalog says max rpm is 5,000 with hp rating
at 4,500 rated at about 33 mph

Ill have to look at the prop when I get back home. It appears to be original. The motor is on a 16 foot fiberglass boat. It planes extremely fast, and has plenty of power (it seems) but my GPS was showing 22.4mph. I do not have a tach so RPM's are unknown. The motor seems to have power in reserve and does not struggle at all pushing the boat. I am hopeing for a little more top end.

Have you adjusted the trim.Usually trimming out will improve speed.Be sure the throttle opens all the way.High speed adjusted carefully.
You could get an induction tach like a Tinytach to test your rpm. They have a web site.
Do you know the year and brand of boat.
