Hi, I just want to make sure I am doing this right and didn't miss anything. Should be a fairly simple one.

I bought a new prop for my motor and it arrived yesterday. I removed the old prop and cleaned off the shaft. I slid the new prop on, making sure the shear pin was lined up and the prop seated all the way forward. I then put the prop nut back on and installed a new cotter pin.

My only real question is if the prop nut needs to be tightened to any specification or if it should just be hand tightened so it lines up with the cotter pin holes.

Did I miss anything?

Thanks!

Your are correct, the prop nut just needs to be hand tight to hold everything in place.

Wow, that came out of the way back machine! It seemed to be just about hand tight where the holes lined up when I installed the brand new prop. I was also able to back off the old one with my hand, and I don't see the excessive wear on the old hub.

Should I worry about this or am I good to go?

I have only been taking mine on and off for about 25 years the way you explained and have not had any problems.

That's good enough for me!
