Prop security...anyone heard of PROTECTAPELLER

hi guys

as per the title really - has anyone heard of - or indeed bought an anti-theft casing for a prop made by/called Protectapeller

google reveals that they were reviewed by YBW magazine in 2001 - but they want money for the review

thought i would check out 'real' reviews on here first

its like a solid case that goes over the entire prop and fastens up right round the back of the lower unit

seems like an awesome design - can't believe they didnt take off big time - obviously they didnt lol

If you need to go there

They make prop lock nuts that deter thieves from snagging your prop. I see a lot of boats on dock boat lifts that just pull their prop at the end of the season here.

i've bought it now - persuaded them to add a buy it now of ?20 - must be worth it for that

It's used because it was taken off of a stolen prop Seriously, it's just too bulky for me to consider it. I'd just as soon take my prop off if I thought it was necessary. Hope it works well for you.

In some places, things like props are worth lots of cash. Untracked and valuable. So it does make sense to protect it/them, in some places.
I am lucky that I can keep my boat at home and the crime rate and access are restricted by narrow streets and friendly neighbors. But I can see the need arising as times get tougher. Removal is as good as it gets, but how sensible is it if you use your boat quite often?
