prop selection from scratch?

I just purchased an 85 larson DC 230 (23') anyway, the outdrive was stolen off of it, and i was given another one with the boat, but the prop on it was pretty jacked up. Since that drive didn't come off that boat, and that one is really screwed up, I'm going to end up choosing a prop from scratch. it's a mercruiser Gen I, 260 HP, (chev. 350) and the boat weighs about 4200 lbs or so. Im thinking around an 18" pitch with the biggest diameter i can fit on the thing. I plan to use the boat for cruising, so I really don't care how long it takes to get out of the hole. Any Ideas if someone sells props with a no frills return policy so if that one sucks i can exchange it for another one? Also, any ideas of what kind of top speed i could get out of the boat?

Is the New Outdrive the Right Ratio,..??..??.....

If it Is,........ I'd start with a plain ole standard 17" or 19" prop,+ Go from There........

I agree with the admiral. Is the drive ratio on the side of the drive?
