1998 Glastron Se175 3.0GS MBYMCE engine. Volvo Penta SX outdrive serial # 4112053590 Model #3868895 SX-M 1.97. I hit a wing dam (expensive rookie mistake) and my propeller shaft is bent. I am going to perform this repair myself and am looking for insight. My parts list starts with a propeller shaft with bearings, prop, and gasket kit with oils for the repair. I realize hidden damage is where I am going to succeed or fail on this repair. Things to look for and look out for would be appreciated. Post impact information I used the boat out of necessity for 5 trips of 1 mile roundtrip at idle. No oil leakage is present at this time. Thanks in advance. 7.8.09 Removed the lower unit today. Came apart like a champ. I am (attempting) to remove the prop shaft housing assembly. My seloc book does not provide that level of detail. But based on the picture I believe the prop housing unsrews from the lower unit? Can anyone confirm the procedure? pdate 7.10.09 Found a local shop willing to disassemble lower unit and yes it does unscrew. Seems to be reasonable priced and should have it done by next Tuesday. Propeller shaft was bent beyond the carrier housing and no damage occurred to the bearing or housing. Thank goodness. Update 7.19.09 Boat was completed by local shop 7.17.09. Spent the weekend out at the Delta with friends on Bruno's island and I am happy to report everything is running fine.
