On 1981 75hp Evinrude how can I check to see if the prop shaft is bent also how much end to end and side to side slack is acceptable tolerance for the prop shaft.
I'm not familiar with that motor but I've heard you can check lifter rods in a car engine by rolling them on a flat piece of glass and just watching it real close. but I'm not sure if that will work in your case. it was just the first thing that came to mind.
If you think the shaft is bent, best thing to do is get it run out using a dial indicator (micrometer). Is it visibly bent....that is, when you turn the prop, does it seem to have a wobble in it?
