How will the prop size change affect performance from alum 14 x 19 to SS 13 3/4 x19? I just damaged the aluminum and the SS prop in good condition is available for a good price. Should I go for it? What change in performance should I expect? I do have a spare if the change is not recommended. I am just an average boater and not into speed spectacular. Thank you.
Alexc
20 ' crestliner 150 vmax

Re: prop size change

You should see an immediate marked improvement when you go to the SS prop. SS have more cupping than aluminum and bite the water better. Blades are thinner and cut through the water easier. The extra cupping usually keeps the SS in the same RPM range as the same size aluminum. If the maximum RPM is right for your motor now, it should stay right with the new prop.

I agree with Jack.....
But, There are Many Different kinds,+ styles of SSprops out there......
And every 1 of them is for a Particular Application..... Choppers.... Clevers.... Roundear.....3 blade... 4 blade.... 5 blade....
There's Alot more to props than Pitch.....
Maybe you could get a "Test" ride with it......
